Common Questions
Study Permit FAQs
What is a DLI (Designated Learning Institution)?
A DLI is a Canadian school approved by a provincial or territorial government to host international students. Only programs at DLIs are eligible for study permits.
Can I work while studying in Canada?
Yes. Most full-time post-secondary students can work up to 20 hours per week off-campus during regular academic sessions and full-time during scheduled breaks.
What is a Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP)?
A PGWP allows graduates of eligible Canadian programs to work in Canada for up to 3 years after graduation, providing a direct pathway to permanent residency.
How long does a study permit take to process?
Processing times vary but typically range from 4–12 weeks. We recommend applying at least 3–4 months before your program start date.
